New Job!

Interviewed yesterday and was offered the job a few hours later.  I am excited.  Their are a couple of developments coming thru for me career-wise.  DO i accept the higher paying job with a long commute and stuffy people or do I accept the less paying position with folk it appear I can connect to and a twenty minute commute?

I am going to pray on this and see what happens.  I have faith and am grateful.  Thank YOU.  Amen.

Just so...so...UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

I will begin work in a few months. I have already received and accepted the offer. This position requires a Clearance. Well, yesterday I had an 11:30 a.m. conference call with the Security Coordinator of my future employer. I arranged for my daughter to be well outta earshot since this was a scheduled 30 minute call. I waited. I waited more. And yet again, I waited. He never called. The HR rep who scheduled the call never called to tell me the call would be rescheduled. I wasted more than an hour of my time waiting around before I decided to call them (no answer, had to leave a message). I sent an email. I received a response(couple hours later) with a lackluster excuse.

Fast-forward to today. Call we rescheduled for 12:30 p.m. I was told if Security Coordinator didnt call by 12:40 to call HR and to send an email. Well, 12:41 comes around and there is no call. I call the HR rep, leave a message. I shoot out an email. At 12:51 he finally calls!!! Only to tell me we will have to reschedule because having held a clearance in the past, their procedure is a bit different. WTH??!! Didn't you know this before you called? Are you just looking at my papers while dialing my number? Is this an indication of what to expect with this company? I sure as heck hope not!! I think Im kinda upset about this because I could have gone to the thrift store. Instead I will be in the house because the sun has gone down and it is now raining outside. **sigh**

The begining starts now...

I just found out my ace in the hole co-worker is leaving. Actually, I've known for at least one month because afterall, I was one of his references. However, having him come into the office on his day off to turn in his noticed really struck a cord with me. I have a lot of planning and work to do. I really have to leave this place once I have my child. I am working on that right now!!!

Here's my action plan:

• Update my resume
• Dust off interviewing and negotiating books
• Begin sending out resumes once I go out on maternity leave
• Ask former co-workers and others I know if they know of any possible openings
• NETWORK! NETWORK!! NETWORK!!
• Read more of my LOA books to become centered and manifest this new job!!!!

I can not remain in this lab too much longer after my child is born. The hours are not conducive with the way I plan to raise my family. The manangement here SUCKS MONKEY BALLS!!!! There are several other factors, but those are the most important thus far. I will start working on my resume within the next week!!!

I have a job....

I have been in Texas all week training at the headqurters of my new gig. I had an 'ok' time. It could have been better, but I aint complaining because I have a job!!

I am sitting in Charlotte airport waiting for my connecting flight and am bored. I have a lot of catching up to do. I have not visited any blogs, including my own, in quite a while.

I have to get better with my eating habits. I was doing great until this week long training session. As a result my face has broken out and my stomach sticks out a bit :(

I got the job...

They called me and offered me an acceptable amount.  I will post more on this later.  Until then, I have to share a major NO-NO with the lady folk who frequent this blog:

Besides the awful choice of dress for her body type, what else is wrong with this picture?  Look really close.  Look at those hairy ass legs!!!  The hell!!!!Does anyone else remember when Monique was a guest host on The View and made the statement 'Black women don't shave their legs.'  Well, it seems as if she was speaking for herself and the other black women she know.

Monique.  Stop.  Just stop.

Random yet interesting tid bit...

First of all, I just received a call from the first company I interviewed with...  remember this post .  Well I was just offered the position with a start date.  I was given a monetary amount that I was not happy with.  I communicated to them the lowest amount I am willing to accept and am now awaiting another call.

Now on to the interesting tid bit.  I was outside sitting on a lawn chair when I noticed a police car.  Now it is not uncommon to see police cars around my neighborhood because we have a high school one block away.  They are there all day.  In fact, police stay there damn near 24 hours due to speed traps they have set up.  Anywhoo, I was sitting in my lawn chair when I noticed several cop cars speeding down the street.  Being the concerned (read nosey) neighbor that I am, I went to the front of the lawn to see what was going on.  Well down the street I notice 4 police officers running through someone's yard.  Y' all this type of stuff don't happen around here, so I found it very exciting. 

I sat and watched the on goings for another 5-10 minutes before I noticed a cop car hastily driving off.  Well, I proceeded to walk down the block to see what was going on (told y'all I'm nosey).  I notice a lil black boy running from the cops.  Well, actually,  he wasn't really running.  He was actually only going fast  enough (very slow jog) to remain ahead of the cop that was within his eye sight LOL!!! It was the funniest stuff I have seen in a while.  It was COPS worthy y'all!!!  He eventually picked up speed and lost the cop.  The cop looked heated y'all (literally and figuratively)!!!!  It is a nice 80 degrees out here today.  The lil black kid had on a black tee shirt and shorts.  The cop had on full cop gear (shirt, pants, and all that other jazz).  He  was sweating his ass off.

Well wouldn't you know, one of my elderly white neighbors came out to see what all the excitement was about.  Just as the neighbor came out, a cop car came down our street and stopped suddenly in front of my elderly white neighbor.  He loudly asked him  if he saw a black boy in a black tee shirt.  Now, mind y'all, this is the same cop who passed me by several times.  Did he ask me?  Yes, yes he did.  Only after driving around for a while longer did he finally ask me.  Oh, did I mention my elderly white neighbor lives 2 doors down and it would not taken any time to ask me when he initially asked my elderly white neighbor. 

Well, I simply replied no I haven't seen anything.  Truth is, by the time he asked me, that lil black boy was no where near where I saw him.  Would I have told had I been asked after immediate seeing the boy.  Um, I really don't know.....

Well I have updates....

I spoke with a rep from the company I interviewed with 2 weeks ago. I was told I am definitely wanted for the position I interviewed for. However, the company is in the process of organizing the team I will be a member of, and does not want to offer a start date until they have everything on their end straight.

I am confident this position will be mine!!! I think I stated this in an earlier thread. LOL!!!!

Anyways,I am thinking of getting on the road one day next week and driving to the ATL. I have no reason to go other than to visit my lil sister and hang out and have a nice time until I begin working. I may also apply for a few jobs while down there. My only issue is driving the 8 hours alone. I am not afraid of the drive. I get tired after driving 3 hours!!! So one only knows how I will be after 8 hours. I would fly down there, but my lil sis is taking real estate classes on the weekends and I need to have transportation to get around.

Y'all, I swear I have a feeling if I go down there looking for employment, I will definitely find a job....like instantly!! Who knows what the future holds. I am simply excited about my future!!

Oh, I have a bug on my laptop. So if you find errors within my post, it's b/c of the bug. It causes my pointer to go random places and wherever it placed, that is where my typing begins :\

Still waiting...

I am still waiting to hear from the company I interviewed with last week. I received another call from the representative last Friday informing me I was still the lead candidate for the position. The HR representative simply had to go to her manager and get the go-a-head. They also want to make sure they have their ducks in a row before they offer me the position.

I know this job is mine!! I have claimed it already!! I should know by the end of the week at the absolute latest...or so I'm wishing

I have an intereview tomorrow...Plus other randomness

Well, considering I have been a lazy ass when it comes to updating this blog (and other things in general), I haven't had the opportunity to keep you guys updated with my job situation...or lack thereof.

Well, I had an interview two weeks ago. The interview went exceptionally well and I left that interview thinking I had a 97% chance of receiving an offer. The 3% uncertainty came in due to salary expectations. This is a smaller company and although when asked the lowest salary I would accept, I sensed a bit of apprehension on the part of the interviewer. Well, a few days ago, I called HR to do a follow up and inquire of the status of the position(s) I interviewed for (yeah, they wanted me in two different departments). I was told the paperwork has been forwarded to the appropriate people , but I was still in the 'mix'. Her words exactly.....'MIX'...LOL!!!

Anyways, I have an interview with another company tomorrow and I really want to get on with this company. For some reason, I have a great feeling about this interview tomorrow. I feel as if this job is mine and I am going to 'claim' it!!

Once I get this job (because I know I will) I will once again begin my home search!! I am especially excited about the home search. I have been envisioning myself in my new position with this new job AND in my new home. How can I go wrong? I CAN"T!!!!

What more can I say? I am expecting the best!! I know I am going to get it too.

The past 3 months haven't been as productive as I would have liked. But I have been getting in excellent shape, working out constantly and am actually running a 10k next Saturday!! So it hasn't been all bad!

My pooch, Houston, has been ill and he has been to several vet visits only to have to go to an internal specialist. The specialist then says they recommend he goes to another specialist in Northern VA to have an MRI. Da hell?! $1600 for my furbaby to have an MRI then another ridiculous amount to have surgery to correct whatever the MRI identifies as the problem. Well, I am going to take him to another vet and get a second opinion before I dish out all that cash!! I may have been born at night, but it sure as hell wasn't last night!!

My hair is thriving!! My hair reaches my armpit and is steady growing. Actually, some parts reach bra strap, but I wont claim bra strap length until 98% of my hair is that length. I wear it pulled back unless I am going 'out'. Besides, I work out 5 times a week and I must have an easy pull back or bun. But as for the weekends, it's hanging and swanging ;-)

I will let you guys know how the interview went!! I know all 3 of my readers are anticipating an update! LOL!!!!
