Well, as I sit here sipping on a cup of wine (yep I said cup...LOL) I laugh because I had to lightly tap my pooch on the behind. Why you ask? Well, I had my cup of wine positioned in my lap as I sit Indian style on my bed. I am 'feeling it' and am a bit focused on the television (Monk marathon on USA network). Well, all of a sudden I hear a slurp, slurp, slurp. What in the hello??!! I look down and Houston has his mouth in my cup of wine!!!! I nearly had a fit!!! Under ordinary circumstances, I would have reprimanded him and made him have time out. But today is a bit different.
Houston has been sick lately. He was diagnosed with Kennel Cough at the ER Vet. I then took him to another vet and they said he was congested, possible bronchial infection. I then took him to another vet and they took x-rays and said he appears to be congested, possible bronchial infection. He has been on numerous meds for the past 3 weeks or so. Well, today is no different and he is on an antibiotic. Do you guys see where I am going with this? He is on antibiotics!!! He weighs 5 pounds!!!! He slurp, slurp, slurped from my cup of wine!!! 145 pound humans are not allowed to drink alcohol while on antibiotics. Thus the cause me having a fit!!
Let me fill you guys in as to what I have endured for the past few weeks, having had a sick pooch in the house. Night time is theee worst. He snores like a 550 pound grown man. I cant possible tell him to shut up or get off the bed becasue he is sick. He sneezes non stop. He wheezes non stop. LAstly and unfortunately, he is not his normal hyper self (which can be good at times...bad to say, I know)
At this moment, I am observing him, as he is on time out, and he is a pitiful mess!! He is trying not to look at me from the corner of his eye, while at the same time, trying not to fall asleep. Now here I am contemplating taking him to the ER Vet....once again. This will cost more moolah!!!! He has a vet appt. tomorrow and here it is, I may have to take him to there ER tonight.
Some may say it is my fault as I should have been more alert. Well, as I continue to drink from my cup of wine, I say....Whateva. Houston is normally a very well behaved pooch. But lately, he has been out of control (twice pooping IN the house!!!). I am contributing the change in personality to his meds. He is getting much better health wise, so I am expecting him to be his normal self again in two weeks or so. If not, he will be in for a rude awakening!! NO more getting off the hook for 'minor' offenses!!!
